Oscar Predictions

In here I'll go through the oscar nominations and select which one I think will win. I've seen almost everything, but I haven't seen quite everything for the performances, so part of the selection is just word of mouth and what I've read on them. This post also includes what I like to call my "Pretty Please" list. Every year I like to make two lists, my actual Oscar predictions and a list for what I want to win. Often times, they aren't remotely similar, which is a little saddening, but what are you going to do. So this list is both my actual predictions and the Pretty Please list.

If I could add one to the list it would be Foxcatcher, It was better than most of the films that were nominated in my opinion, if Foxcatcher had been nominated that would have been my Pretty-Please choice, but seeing as it wasn't Whiplash will do fine.

Pretty Please: Steve Carell
Now, where I wouldn't choose him to win, I'd like to see Jake Gyllenhaal for either Enemy of Nightcrawler get a nomination, he deserved it. Steve Carell is the real competition for Michael Keaton to beat this year and I'm happy about that, and if a miracle occurs and Bradley Cooper won I wouldn't be disappointed.

Pretty Please: Rosamund Pike
Rosamund Pike gave my favorite female performance of last year, would love to see her win. Marion Cotillard was really good this year, and one of my favorite actresses period, so I would be very happy with her winning as well.

Pretty Please: Oh god, I want Ethan Hawke to win, I've wanted Ed Norton to win an Oscar for a long time, I really want Mark Ruffalo to win for I loved Foxcatcher, and I absolutely loved J.K.Simmons, if I had to pick one? Oh, J.K. Simmons for the win I guess, but I'd accept any of the other (besides Duvall) for the win just the same.

Loved Patricia Arquette so much in Boyhood, honestly I think she destroys all her competition this year, but I would also love Emma Stone to win for her awesome job in Birdman.

I saw none of these, I picked a winner based on word of mouth, so I really don't care what wins in the Animation category I guess. Don't really follow this category ever.

As much as I loved absolutely all the films, and I'd love for Foxcatcher to win as much as possible, but Nightcrawler was my favorite film in the writing department of the year, and would love it if the film got some love.

I loved Ida, it's on my top 10 of the year, and no other foreign film touched it I think, granted I haven't seen Timbuktu or Wild Tales

Yeah, I honestly don't think any other film has a chance at this category, Birdman was the shit when it came to cinematography last year.

I loved the hell out of the sound in Birdman it was just awesome, I unfortunately just don't think it will be able to stand up to Interstellar, who honestly I would be fine with winning as well.

No one, no one can touch what Bill Corso and Dennis Liddiard did to Steve Carell in Foxcatcher, they helped transformed him in John du Pont, they did a phenomenal job and cannot see anyone touching it.

I just really liked the job they did in Whiplash, wouldn't mind Boyhood or American Sniper to win as well.
