Badass Movie Moment: Heat Armored Car

Badass Movie Moment: The Armored Car

Heat is by far one of my favorite films of all time. I love everything about it, from the loud to the quiet scenes, from the night to the day, from the acting to the sound, everything. Where the scene I'm going to talk about here is not my absolute favorite in the film, the title of this series idea is Badass Movie Moment. And that's what this scene is, badass.

It's the armored truck robbery just a couple minutes into the film. From the moment these men put their masks on, you know they mean business. And the way the masks were shot by Michael Mann are brilliant. You can almost never see their eyes, giving this humanless impression as you watch them work. And work they do, they have the robbery planned to a T. The ambulance, the towtruck, the explosives, the car spikes, it's all there.

These guys know exactly what to do when to do it, and it is really cool to watch. The way these men are filmed, how they look, how they moved, how they communicate, it's all undoubtedly badass. And let's not forget about the plan, and the badassness that it carries. The idea to run the armored car off the road with a giant pickup for a robbery? Not your typical movie robbery, not stealthy, not subtle, they just go for it.

Yeah, there's a lot of badassery in this scene. Not to mention Robert De Niro (in arguably his most badassness), Val Kilmer (in his most badassness), Tom Sizemore (in arguably this most badassness), and Trejo (who is always badass). I don't think you can count Waingro as a badass, more of the really messed up disturbing kind of guy, but anyway lots of badass actors running around in the scene. And after the heist is finished, ditch the ambulance with all the clothes and guns and light it on fire. No traces (except of course some dead bodies and a giant towtruck).

One of the most badass moments from one of the most badass movies, and there are so many other really badass moments in this film as well, so hard to pick one. But this one just seemed like the perfect moment to start the series.

Alright, this is one of my new ideas for a series for the blog, let me know whether it's a good idea, or not so much, and tell me your favorite badass moment from Heat as well!
